Our love for the British Shorthair is the result of our (now deceased) cat William. His affection, beautiful looks and balanced character ensured that the love for British Shorthair has grown into Cattery Hollandskroon

After the official recognition, more than 100 years ago, the race has steadily improved. A powerful, stocky body with a heavy round head, thick cheeks, big round eyes and a thick plush coat are the main characteristics of the British. In general, the cat resembles a small teddy bear. Silver shaded cats are generally slightly smaller and more elegant than cats of other colors. The charming smile of British Shorthair has been the inspiration for the Cheshire cat, invented by Lewis Carroll. Millions of children all over the world read “Alice in Wonderland” without realizing that the Cheshire Cat – is a British cat.

In our cattery we want to gather the best bloodlines of the British breed. Our goal is to breed healthy kittens with a real British character without affecting the health of the breed. We achieve this by giving our cat proper nutrition, veterinary approve and annually they receive of course a vaccination against viral and fungal diseases. Of course, this is also the intersection with the appropriate blood lines, and partners with the correct physical properties, both are of great importance. Our cats are naturally beautiful physically, are friendly, well groomed, very affectionate and playful, but still have a sense of selfesteem (character).

Silver shaded have a really beautiful white-silver coat. Their faces look naturally elegant. Black eyelids emphasize the round, large emerald green eyes, and nose and lips are rimmed. When silver shaded british coat, the hair is one third black like the soles. When silver tipped British (chinchilla) the fur is only 1/8 black, the feet are white but the feet are black. These varieties are now included in the same color group.

The charm and tact of these cats will not leave anyone indifferent.

When our kittens are at least 12 weeks old, they can go to their new owners. At that moment they are at that  fully vaccinated, with appropriate documentation (international passport, contract and a pedigree) and microchipped. The kittens are already housebroken and accustomed to the toilet bowl. Of course our kittens are examined by a veterinarian before they go to the new owner. Kittens can be reserved in advance. We like to give extensive information about the nutrition and care of the animals and are ready for you to share our knowledge and experience.
